TogetherDataMentor (Learning Tools Competition 2023) (Personal)
TogetherDataMentor is an AI copilot designed to aid volunteer data science teams on long-term NGO projects and provide authentic learning experience. I work on the project as a part of a team of DS educators, NGO team members and learning designers from Germany, Netherlands, the US and Canada.
XPRIZE Digital Learning Challenge (UofT)
During the two-year work on $1 million XPRIZE Digital Learning Challenge, I was one of the key members and a technical team lead of the Grand Prize-winning team — Adaptive Experimentation Accelerator, working on all stages of the project, from proposals to deployments to the final reporting, taking responsibility for outlining experimental designs showing platform capabilities, and coordinating the implementation of interventions and technical integration.
EASI: (Adaptive) Experimentation as a Service in Education (UofT)
($3 million NSF Cyberinfrastructure grant, PI: John Stamper (CMU), co-PI: Joseph Williams)
My role: Graduate student lead of WP 5: Adaptive Experiments Data Analysis and Visualization. I work on developing reproducible data analysis and visualization workflows, helping researchers and instructors plan and analyze adaptive experiments at scale. I also work on WP 4 (Tools for Adaptive Experimentation Design), designing ways to represent interventions’ impact for policy stakeholders.
QuickTA: Enhancing Problem-Solving through Intelligent Support: A Novel Approach Combining Problem Recommendation, Adaptive Experimentation, and Chatbot Interaction (UofT)
($250 thousand DARPA AI Tools for Adult Learning Competition winner, PIs: John Stamper (CMU), Norman Bier (CMU), Michael Liut (UofT), Joseph Williams (UofT))
My role: Learning design of LLM-based interventions, co-developing ways to evaluate multidimensional student experiences in problem-solving with the help of LLM assistants
